What is AllergySupport.org? AllergySupport.org was created by my wife and I as an online community for people with allergies and parents of kids with allergies. Who can use it? This site is available to anyone to browse. All of the links, recipes, tips, discussion boards and other content are available for free, but respect all appropriate copyrights. How can I help? The benefit of creating an online community is to harness the energy of a huge number of people for our common good. This site is maintained by you. If you have a link that you think others will find interesting, please add it. It will be immediately available for everyone to search and see. If you have a great recipe that excludes some common allergen that you think other would benefit from using, please add it. If you have a tip or advice about a particular topic, please add it. Everyone has some unique quality, perspective skill or interest that should be shared. Your insight, information and opinions are extremely valued here. Do I have to register for this site? Registering is not required, but if you would like to add your own content, or access our discussion boards, we do ask that you are registered first. Registering is easy, just click on the Register button. That will take you to a screen where you can type in some information. We don't ask you for any private information like address, phone number, etc. We only ask you for your name and e-mail address where we can contact you if there's a question about the content you add. What is available on this site? AllergySupport.org has a few basic features, and some more are in the works. Articles and Links Now comes the exciting part. Everyone who has an allergy or has a kid with an allergy and uses the Internet has a ton of web sites bookmarked in their browser. Why not share that information with everyone? Every topic on the left and right sidebars has a sub menu called "Articles & Links". When you click on the button, an articles and links page appears for that topic. At the top of the screen, there is an option to add a new link. When you add your link, it's available to everyone, including people who are not registered. When you add your link, this site also goes out to the site that you added and indexes the text so that everyone can search for information on the site you have added. After you have added your links, you can always come back and edit the links you have added. When you click on the "Edit Links" button, a list is displayed of all the links in that topic that you have added. No other member can edit your links, and you cannot edit another members links. If a link is added that we think is better under a different topic, we might ask you to move it, or move it ourselves after we get permission from you. This is just so that we can keep things organized. You can also delete a link that you have added in case you made a mistake and want to start over. You will not be able to add a link that already exists in the database. News Feeds News feeds find recent articles from newspapers and other sources around the globe on a range of food allergy topics.Discussion Boards Available to registered users Online Chat Chat in realtime with other logged in users.
